Answer 1 of 1 ⌥⇧←→ Copy
How would you design a rate limiter for a public API?

I would use a token bucket for each API key, kept in Redis, so every server sees the same count.

  • Each key gets a bucket of 100 tokens that refills at 100 a second.
  • A request takes one token. With none left, it gets a 429 and a Retry-After time.
  • A small Lua script does the check and the update in one step, so two servers never race.
Example
tokens = min(cap, tokens + rate*dt)if tokens < 1: return 429tokens -= 1

Answer 1 of 1 Copy
If our server is down, do we lose the webhook events?

No. Webhooks retry for 24 hours, so every event still arrives once your server is back.

  • Each try sends the same event id, so you can skip repeats.
  • Reply with any 2xx code to mark the event as received.
Example
{ "id": "evt_2931", "attempt": 3 }

It finds the question.

…so, um, can we call your API from, like, our Go services?

question
Can we call your API from our Go services?
answer
Answer 1 of 1

Yes. We have SDKs for Python, Node and Go, so your Go services can call the API today.

  • The Go SDK retries on a 429 for you.
  • Give each service its own key, so each gets 100 requests a second.
Example
client := api.NewClient(key)resp, err := client.Send(ctx, req)

FAQ.txt

Using Qavio

Which meeting apps does Qavio work with?

Any app that plays the call through your Mac: Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Slack and others, in the desktop app or in the browser. Qavio listens to the sound your Mac plays, so it does not need a separate integration for each app.

Does a bot join my meeting?

No. Nothing joins your call and nobody gets an invite from Qavio. It runs on your Mac and listens to your microphone and to the sound of the meeting.

How does an answer work?

When you press ⌥⇧A, Qavio finds the last question in the transcript and writes a short answer that you can say in your own words. It uses the documents you uploaded, your profile, the description you gave for the call and your past calls. If no question has been asked yet, it waits instead of guessing. You can also type a question yourself.

What do I need to run Qavio?

A Mac with Apple silicon, running macOS 26 or later. Qavio asks for two permissions: Microphone, to hear you, and Screen Recording, which is the permission macOS uses to let an app hear the sound of your meeting. Qavio is only for Mac today. You can read your transcripts and notes on any device in the web dashboard.

Which languages does Qavio understand?

English, for now. Other languages are not supported yet.

Privacy and consent

Does Qavio listen all the time?

No. Qavio listens only after you press Start in its window, and it stops when you press Stop. It never starts a session by itself. You can also mute your microphone or the meeting sound at any time during a session.

Is my audio uploaded anywhere?

No. Speech is turned into text on your Mac, with the speech engine built into macOS. The text of the call is saved to your account so you can read it on the web, and the parts that an answer or a summary needs are sent to our AI model provider. The privacy policy names every provider we use.

Is my data used to train AI?

No. We do not train AI models on your calls, notes or documents, and our AI model provider's terms say it does not use this data for training either. We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.

Do I need to tell the other people on the call?

Yes. Qavio transcribes everyone on the call, and the rules on recording are different in each country and on each platform. Before you start, the app reminds you and gives you a short message to paste into the meeting chat. During the call, macOS shows its own recording indicator in the menu bar. Getting any consent that the law or the platform needs is your responsibility, as section 4 of our Terms explains.

Can I use Qavio in any conversation?

Only in conversations where AI help is allowed, such as sales, client, support and team calls. Do not use it in exams, certification tests, or job interviews and assessments where the rules say no outside help. This is section 3 of our Terms, and we close accounts that break it. If you run hiring or tests and want Qavio kept out of them, the responsible use page explains how to ask.

How do I delete my data?

Delete any call, document or your whole account from the dashboard. Deleting a call removes its transcript, notes and any feedback about it from our servers. The copy on your Mac is in the app's own folder, and you can delete it there. You can also email info@qavio.ai and we will do it within 30 days.

Pricing and billing

Do I get a free trial?

Yes. Every new account gets 30 free minutes, and no payment is needed to start.

How are minutes counted?

A session is charged for its length, from Start to Stop, rounded up to the next minute. A session under a minute is free, and one session never costs more than 240 minutes. Answers, typed questions and the notes at the end are included in the minutes of the call. You can see the time and the charge while the session runs.

What happens when I run out of minutes?

The call keeps being transcribed and saved on your Mac. Answers and notes pause until you buy more minutes, so you never lose a meeting because of your balance.

Is this a subscription?

No. Each pack is a one-time payment. Nothing renews, minutes never expire, and there is nothing to cancel. If you stop using Qavio, you are not charged again.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Within 7 days of a purchase, we refund the unused minutes of that purchase in full, for any reason. Email info@qavio.ai from your account's email address and say which purchase you mean. We reply within 2 business days, and the money goes back to your original payment method. The refund policy has the full rules.

How do I pay?

Online, on a secure checkout page run by our payment provider. The provider is the merchant of record: it is the seller for the payment, it handles tax where it applies, and its name is the one on your receipt and your bank statement. We never see or store your card details.
